Tazkirah Malam Ini : Boikot, berjayakah?

Bismillah.. Isu boikot. Sudah lama dah kan? Berlalu begitu sahaja? Kan.. Ye lah, tak siapa ambil peduli macam dahulu dah.. Dulu semua semangat nak boikot. Sekarang, hmm... Nampak Mcdonald, makan Starbucks, jumpa Tesco, dah macam tiada effect.. Sedih. Sangat sedih..

Setakat sorang muslim, memilih untuk ke kedai kopi Pak Tam instead of going to Starbucks, seorang sahaja, tiada effect mana pun.

Well, ingat balik kisah burung tadi. Bukan!

Tetapi ini ialah isu tanggungjawab kita! Isu hak saudara kita, yang perlu kita penuhi! It's not about the money, or the profit/loss of the company! It's about our responsibility!

Kita menunaikan tanggungjawab kita!

"It's not about the result. It's about the act."

CAL & YLM

I love YLM.

I love crocheting stuff and do crafty things. However, lately I have been buzy with works. And being pregnant, I am starting to be lazy. Sometime, I just stop do homeworks because my tummy ache. Since my hubby heard from the doctor himself that I need a lot of rest in my first trimester of pregnancy, he let me be to be lazy lazy (^-^)

Nonetheless, I still  spend some time to crochet things. Fortunately, kak Aisyah always host Crochet Along - CAL in Yarn Lover Malaysia. This is my shawl for South Bay Shawlette...

Sorry, Prime Minister
Mar 6, 2012

Category: Blogpost

I am a firm believer and practitioner of apologising whenever I make a mistake or do something wrong. There is nothing easier than to say sorry and move on with life.  Other politicians do it too. When Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong apologised to Singaporeans during the last general election, they understood his statement to mean that he would make changes if he was returned to power. True to his promise and expression of regret, Premier Lee has since instituted several changes, the main one being that government leaders must listen more to the ground. The image of the elitist leader who knows what is best for Singapore has dramatically changed.
Now our own PM is following the trend. He was in Kedah the other day when he apologised for the mistakes and arrogance of BN leaders. I was initially impressed because I don’t remember an UMNO leader apologising since 1981 – at least Najib has made history of sorts. But the statement rings hollow for a variety of reasons.
  1. The PM may have apologised for the BN’s arrogance, but he has done nothing to get rid of UMNO’s culture of arrogance even though he has been in power for four years. Only a day before the Kedah speech, his right-hand man Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the Opposition cannot be trusted to govern. They are simply too incompetent, he said. Yet state governments under the Pakatan Rakyat are doing well and the people will soon decide on whether the Opposition can govern or not. Such a statement from a senior Minister is pure arrogance. There are a few more super arrogant Ministers, like Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim and Tan Sri Muhyuddin Yassin. So what has changed that prompted Najib to say sorry? It’s always more of the same.
  2. Another clear manifestation of UMNO’s arrogance is its ownership of the media. No decent and fair-minded Malaysian will fail to see the way the ruling party has used its media network to spread lies and propaganda. A fair-minded PM who is not arrogant will allow TV3 and the Media Prima group to invite Opposition leaders to give their points of view. This would allow for a healthy exchange of opinions with the Opposition and can show the Prime Minister’s own conviction in his Ministers and his policies. But again, nothing has changed.
  3. Awarding contracts to whomever the PM wants is also arrogance, and this too has stayed the same. First we saw the award of a multi-billion ringgit project to the former Chief Justice. Then the West Coast Expressway project given to Kumpulan Europlus Bhd escalated to RM7 billion. The building of the so-called Kuala Lumpur International Financial District and the so-called Education Hub in Pagoh (where the PM’s Deputy is from) will also cost billions of ringgit, but does the Government bother to explain to the people what these projects are really about? Do the people really need them? I suspect that so long as these projects will enable some people to be rich, then it’s ok to proceed.
In a nutshell, nothing has changed – so why did the PM say sorry? The truth is that the BN is in dire straits. They are trailing in the parliamentary seats in the Peninsula and only Sabah and Sarawak can save them. But UMNO has no presence in Sarawak, which makes it open to possibilities, and that’s why the BN is desperate. Although Elton John said sorry seems to be the hardest word, Najib had to swallow his pride and say it anyway, just in case Taib Mahmud and the Malays mudah lupa…but I doubt they will this time.

Akhir-akhir ini asyik terupdate pasal suasana politik Malaysia. Walaupun tak minat sebab tak faham putar belit dunia politik, rasa penting bila fikir "ke mana hilangnya duit rakyat...?"

Sumpah Laknat - Anwar Ibrahim Bebas

Just a quick updates on Anwar Ibrahim and Saiful. I bet you've read the news :)

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court on Monday acquitted and discharged Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of the charge of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah said that after going through the evidence, the court could not be 100% certain the integrity of the DNA samples was not compromised.
He said as such, the court was left only with Saiful's testimony, which was uncorroborated, and was reluctant to convict based entirely on this.
These are the live updates from the The Star team at the scene at the KL Court Complex at Jalan Duta and the trial:
11.30am: Crowd has dispersed save for a few stragglers waiting for police to open roads.
11am: Ceramah at Masjid Wilayah called off after multiple explosions heard in the area.
Police, using a loudhailer, are urging the crowds to disperse for safety reasons. Crowd slowly disperses and leaves the court complex area.
Sniffer dogs have been employed by police at the scene of the first two blasts.
Karpal Singh on Anwar's acquittal: "This is a decision based on merit. Should not be appealed. Very good win for Anwar."

Beware law students. You've got new case to be read! Luckily I've passed through ;p

think big

Last semester, Dato' Hashim ada kata, nanti bila mengundi, jangan suka-suka je nak pangkah. Nanti Allah tanya tu kat akhirat.
